Suspension of FORSCOM Mandatory Adult Routine Immunizations for Anthrax/Smallpox Vaccines
Reason / Information:
Informational / Vaccine / EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY / Department of the Army issued a Memorandum dated 4 June 2018, halting the Anthrax and Smallpox vaccinations from the FORSCOM Mandatory routine adult immunization medical readiness.
Disposition / Instructions:
Effective immediately, Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) are to suspend mandatory administration of the Anthrax and/or Smallpox vaccination that is NOT in compliance with the current Deputy Secretary of Defense (DSD) memorandum dated, November 12, 2015. All other guidance is prohibited unless authorized by an approved Exception to Policy (ETP) from the DSD Office. Further guidance will be provided, identifying the guidelines for the ETP.
Any approval requests for the expanded administration of these vaccines must be submitted through the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army - Manpower and Reserve Affairs (ASA (M&RA)) for approval.
Typhoid Vaccine administration will continue per the FORSCOM guidance, dated March 5, 2018.

MTFs that may have excess Anthrax and/or Smallpox vaccine, please contact the United States Army Medical Materiel Agency, Distribution Operations Center (USAMMA DOC) for guidance to relocate or cross level the excess vaccines with current requests received at USAMMA DOC for deployment.
USAMMA DOC requests that MTFs DO NOT relocate or redistribute excess Anthrax or Smallpox vaccine without prior coordination from our office. USAMMA DOC Point of contact (POC) information is listed below.
